Supporting Australian veteran-owned businesses, one website at a time

At Marketing Movement, we work closely with healthcare practices, trades and service businesses, helping them get found online and win the right clients. But supporting Australian veteran-owned businesses is something that sits a little closer to the heart. Recently, that meant building the website for Geographe Ag Drones, a farmer-run agricultural drone business in Busselton, Western Australia. We did it pro bono.

Why supporting Australian veteran-owned businesses matters to us

Our co-owner Del is married to an Australian veteran. She knows first-hand that a life in the military asks a lot, not just of the person in uniform, but of the partner beside them. The moves, the time apart, the danger, the sacrifice, the careers put on hold, the load that quietly gets carried at home.

Callan and Steph, who own Geographe Ag Drones, know that world well. Callan spent more than 15 years in the Australian Army before moving into the Defence industry, and both of them have given a lot to the defence community, from the serving member’s side and the support side. When they decided to build something of their own, we wanted to help them launch it properly.

Supporting veterans is something Del is genuinely passionate about, so when the chance came up to use our skills for a couple who had already given so much, it was an easy yes.

The veteran-owned business behind the site

Geographe Ag Drones didn’t start from a love of drones. It started from a problem on their own farm in Ambergate. Every winter, parts of their paddocks became too waterlogged for heavy machinery, spray windows were missed and timing slipped. Drones gave them a practical fix, and now they offer the same to other farmers across the South West and wider WA.

They provide drone spraying, spreading and multispectral mapping, so farmers can get jobs done when wet paddocks, tight access or steep terrain get in the way. No wheel tracks, no crop trampling, and no waiting for the ground to dry.

What we built

Callan and Steph were launching a new business and needed a clear, professional online presence to go with it. We designed and built a WordPress website that:

  • explains their services in plain, practical language that speaks to farmers; yet goes into detail where necessary to answer the questions their target market want to know
  • tells their story, including the farming background and veteran-owned roots
  • makes it easy to book a job or get in touch
  • works properly on mobile, which matters for customers who are often out on the property

That mobile side was a team effort. A big thank you to Matt, who jumped in to help with the technical work and mobile optimisation. Having someone in your corner who loves the fiddly detail makes a huge difference, and the site is better for it.

Lyndell and her team were amazing to deal with. As a new business start-up, the administration and tasks that are required can be extremely daunting……enter Marketing Movement. Del and her team walked us through every step of our website build with professionalism and patience. With every question, review and update Del took the time to provide suggestions, explain processes and deliver in an exceptionally fast timeframe. I would not hesitate to recommend Marketing Movement to anyone looking for a new website build or any marketing services.

Why we’re sharing this

We’re not telling this story to pat ourselves on the back. We’re sharing it because supporting Australian veteran-owned businesses matters, and because a good website can be the difference between a great idea and a business that’s actually open for customers.

If you know a farmer or landholder in the South West who could use a hand when the ground is too wet for machinery, send them to Callan and Steph. For a new business, word of mouth goes a long way.

And if you’re a veteran or defence partner starting something of your own, we’d love to hear about it.

We’re proud to have played a small part in the Geographe Ag Drones story, and we can’t wait to see where Callan and Steph take it.
