Meg Storey on Ethical Marketing and Building a Purpose-Driven Agency
Our Co-Director, Meg Storey, recently joined Gabriela on Kiama Community Radio’s Living Local to chat about her journey, Marketing Movement, and what ethical marketing truly means.
From Corporate Life to the South Coast
Meg shared how her move from a corporate career in Sydney and the UK to the South Coast of NSW was inspired by family, flexibility, and community. “We wanted that community feel by the ocean,” she explained, reflecting on how Kiama became the perfect home for her family. This move also set the stage for launching Marketing Movement in 2018, a leap from the corporate world into a business built around purpose and people.
Building a Values-Driven Team
Starting a business was a bold move, but Meg embraced it wholeheartedly. Today, Marketing Movement operates fully online, giving the team the freedom to choose their working hours while maintaining a culture rooted in respect, high-quality work, and work-life balance. Meg highlighted how the company functions as a “teal organisation”, focusing on purpose and collaboration over rigid hierarchies.
Ethical Marketing at the Core
At Marketing Movement, every client is treated as a unique business with unique goals. Meg explained that ethical marketing isn’t just a buzzword—it’s about honesty, transparency, and creating campaigns that align with the client’s values. “We want to help businesses grow responsibly while making sure their marketing truly reflects who they are,” she said.
This approach also extends beyond clients: the team actively supports community initiatives and charitable projects, particularly those empowering underprivileged women. It’s marketing with impact, integrity, and heart.
Storytelling, Strategy, and Connection
Meg discussed how Marketing Movement blends storytelling, strategy, and creativity to help businesses connect with their audiences in meaningful ways. Rather than focusing purely on numbers or clicks, the agency focuses on long-term growth and authentic connections, helping clients attract the right people while staying true to their mission.
Marketing with Purpose
Meg’s insights are a powerful reminder that marketing isn’t just about campaigns or clicks—it’s about people, purpose, and positive impact. Every strategy is designed to reflect the client’s brand truth, ensuring marketing feels authentic, effective, and ethical.
